LGS 2012 Nov Week 3 : SMILE

I was sick and bed ridden for almost 2 weeks! How did I know I was better: I was able to scrap again! Unfortunately, this is also the time I have to leave for a long planned tour. So here I am, on my second night in Vietnam, trying to post an entry before I left the Philippines!

For the Lets get Sketchy challenge, what is more appropriate but butterflies, they metamorphose from caterpillars in their cocoons - same way i was forced to stay in bed, in my room!

Elmer's Birthday 2012 : Me?

I think I am favored by the heavens despite being bed bound recently! I got to hop blog of Fall in to Fall by Lets Get Sketchy, and for the week's challenge - I prepared this layout based on their sketch. I used a black and red plaid ribbon that qualified me to enter it at Kaboodle Doodles Challenge!

Thus, being of a less healthy mind, I could not think much of which papers to combines, lacking imagination, I just followed the sketch... hehehehe. But to add spice to the red and black scheme of the sketch, I used a wooden stamp with writings - and for it to show, I used gesso on the rubber stamp, smearing it with my fingers for the black paper. Then the conventional black ink on red.

Filstar All About Scrapbooking has no black paper - so I used one of the pages from their black kraft album.  The stars, ribbon, and that laser cut are from All About Scrapbooking.

The layout is entered on the challenges of :

1. Lets Get Sketchy for 2012 November week 2
2. Kaboodle Doodle Challenge number 145

Baguio Trip : Always

My Mom loved the layout! Then she asked, where did I get the butterfly frames? I smiled and said that those are part of Jollibee drink carrier that i cut out, primed with gesso, and then stamped with butterflies! Yeah - you can re use the those paper drink carriers and use them as frames! No need to buy paper frames.

The fabric ribbon  and the 3 dimensional butterflies were bought from 168 Mall in Divisoria. The Fabric ribbon cost Php40 for a roll and the butterflies are Php35 per sheet (depends on the design, a sheet has around 8 - 12 butterflies.

The rest : papers and embellishments are bought from the advance "Tiangge" or Bazaar Sale for its Scrappin Club members last 20 October. The sale would be open to the public on 13-17 November 2012. Oh, call me a hoarder but this brings the estimated cost a lot lower! For this layout that is fully decked with flowers : it would be around Php85. Why? The mark down embellishments would only be Php5 - when it was previously sold around Php29-Php49.50!

The layout is entered on the following challenge blog:

1. Challenge 9 of Filipino Scrapbookers's Challenge Blog
2. Anything Goes Challenge #144 of Kaboodle Doodles

LGS 2012 Nov wk 1 : Elmer

I made the layout based on Lets Get Sketchy 2012 November week 1 challenge, surprisingly... I qualifies also for the Kaboodles Doodles Challenge Blog!

The layout is special and extra easy with - WASHI TAPES! I got to buy 3 rolls of it from Lasting Impression earlier together with stamps, so I used it for the border and the horizontal lines.  The papers and the ribbons - were sourced from All About Scrapbooking of Filstar.
